Padalin caves in shan state
Padalin caves is located in Ywa Ngan township in the western Shan state. It is easier to approach from Mandalay division. From Ku Me town ( located on the Yangon - Mandalay highway, 64 km north of Meiktila and 88 km south of Mandalay ) there is a road heading 35 km eastward until it reaches a reservoir. After a 30 minutes boat ride and an hour trekking through forest people can enter Padalin caves.
Padalin is one of the largest caves in Myanmar with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. There are more than 10,000 years old mural paintings on the cave wall and stone weapons of ancient prehistoric people.
