Koe Thaung Temple in Mrauk Oo
Koe Thaung Temple ( an ancient temple ) in Mrauk Oo of Rakhine state in the west of Myanmar. Mrauk Oo is one of the former Rakhine Kings' cities. There are ruins ( some still in good shapes ) of ancient temples there. At the time being Mrauk Oo can be reached by a few hours drive from Kyauk Taw ( another ancient Rakhine city in the north ) which is in terms reached by boat upstream along Kissipanadi river ( formerly known as Kaladan river ) from Sittwe ( the capital of Rakhine state ). Sittwe which is located in the northern Rakhine state can be reached by flight from Mandalay and Yangon. In the near future there will be road connection from central Myanmar to Mrauk Oo.
