Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda
Kyaikhtiyo pagoda was built over 2500 years ago ( 574 BC ) in the life time of Buddha. The 22 Feet - 8 Inches tall pagoda was built on an egg shape granite rock which in terms has been resting on the very edge of a projecting tabular rock boulder. The egg shape rock and the rock table are two separate pieces. Tourists can take a car from Yangon to the base camp ( Kin-Pun Camp ) of Kyaikhtiyo hills from where they can climb to 1100meters ( 12 km distance ) or take a local pick up car to "Ye-The-Taung" camp. From "Ye-The-Taung" camp ones need to walk up 3 km to reach the Kyaikhtiyo pagoda. There are a couple of good small hotels near "Ye-The-Taung" camp.
