One leg rower at Inle lake
One leg rower at Inle lake

"Intha" or the people living on Inle lake row the boats using one leg. This is a useful skill especially when fishing. By rowing the boat with his one leg the fisherman can look for the fish in the shallow waters of the lake and at the same time he has one free hand to catch the fish by caging them with a netted basket. Look at the fishing net in the picture. You can imagine the depth of the waters where this man is fishing. After caging the fish inside the net he put his hand into the basket, through a hole at the top, to grab the fish.
